The boys had decided to spend the weekend at the hunting camp so Court and I decided on a whim Friday night that we would make a little day trip to New Orleans for a change in scenery. Eating good food and shopping were our two priorities for the trip. We were excited to have a girls day!
The french quarter was a happenin' place... I mean, when is it not? Live music and people watching were the highlights.
I mean... There were some bizarre characters...
Our favorite part of the day was lunch at John Besh's restaurant, Luke. The menu is french with a New Orleans flair and making a decision on what to order was the hardest decision of the day... I know, life is rough.
I ordered the Croque Madame and it was divine of course. And how cute is that little miniature ketchup bottle beside my pommes frites! I may have taken it home with me.
The special of the day was rabbit with sausage, mushrooms and tagliatelle pasta. We decided that if we were ever going to eat rabbit, this restaurant would be the place to do it. Court was brave and took the first bite. The first words out of her mouth were, "We need to start killin' some rabbits!" I about fell out of my chair... and hey, the boys were impressed!
We enjoyed walking through the city... and now I want to go paint every door I see a beautiful bold color.
Court, I'd say we've come a long way from our "spontaneous" Sunday afternoon jaunts to Mobile to eat Thai food and Cinnabon in the mall food court... and spending the money we brought for shopping on food... {at age 16}
I am so blessed to have a friend that appreciates food, culture, and a good ole' spontaneous getaway like I do.
Jill,

My husband and I want to plan a trip to New Orleans. Looks like you had a blast! On a side note, I LOVE your bracelets that you are wearing! Where did you get those.
ReplyDeleteHi Jill! I have been following your blog for a few years now and I have enjoyed it so much! I found your blog while my husband was pursing a baseball career. He was drafted and played in the White Sox organization for a couple years. He has since stopped playing, finished college, and is now a mechanical engineer. I am finishing up my last few months of physician assistant school. I just wanted to let you know that I have loved reading your blog, as I feel we have a lot in common! Thanks for sharing your life!! God bless you:)
