Camera Roll and a Recipe

Rain, Rain go away...

Photobucket

I must admit, I've been thoroughly enjoying this mild "winter" we've been having down here, but it seems like every day that's actually warm, it rains! When the sun finally comes out, there's a little chill in the air... and I wouldn't be complaining- but it sure would be nice to "study" at the beach one warm sunny February day. I'll just keep waiting...

Our anniversary and Valentines Day fall within a week of each other and it's kind of nice when you want to do something reeeeally nice... It's a great way to justify eating at a fancy schmancy high falutin' kind of place in celebration of both special days.

Aaron's gumbo and my pea soup {with a drizzle of olive oil on top}... and the butter for the bread was amazing... I'm gonna have to experiment and figure out how they doctored it up!

House Salad with Green Goddess Dressing and a glass of Reisling from none other than a winery in Washington- very close to our "summer home". That's half the reason I ordered it... I got sentimental for the flavors of home.....  ;)

... and while this is a very UNappetizing photo of my main dish, let me just tell you it was a dream to eat.  Blackened Amberjack with a preserved lemon sauce drizzled on top over a bed of mushrooms and manchego risotto... yes, I will be attempting to replicate the risotto one of these days, and when I do, I just might share it with you!

One of Aaron and mine's favorite nerdy ways to kill time is to hang out at Barnes and Noble. I love to get a starbucks, browse around and collect a rather large stack of books and magazines to read while I sip my latte. Aaron's idea of "reading" consists of oohing and ahhing over the Guiness Book of World Records... And I ask, "how old are you?"

I took this picture the other day when we were both subbing {I skipped a class to make a few $$} because it cracked me up. A boy comes in my classroom- not late at all- with this autographed "pass" that Coach Weatherford insisted he take to Mrs. Weatherford's class. I couldn't help but grin when I saw it.

Despite skipping class one day to sub, I have been studying hard... well, trying to. There's a little kitty cat who insists I look at him instead of my books.

And lastly, I have a recipe to share with you. I whipped it up for lunch and it was way too simple and delicious not to share.

Angel Hair with Sundried Tomatoes and Hearts of Palm

~ cook pasta
~ slice a few hearts of palm {they're delicious and taste just like an artichoke}
~ chop a few leaves of fresh basil
~ transfer pasta to your bowl {I clearly made way too much}
~ pour in a few splashes of heavy cream {like a few tablespoons}
~ add a few tablespoons of parmesan cheese
~ add LOTS of freshly ground black pepper
~ add in a handful of sundried tomatoes
~ add your chopped hearts of palm
~ add the chopped basil
~ toss and enjoy! {If you want to add some protein, chicken breast would be delicious with this}

Photobucket

You get the acidic tartness from the sundried tomatoes and hearts of palm, the freshness from the basil, and a good kick from the black pepper... {If you watch her on food network, you'll know exactly who I'm imitating...}

Have a great weekend everyone... hope yours is more sunny than mine!
