A Night at the Ballpark

Photobucket

Every night, I arrive at the ballpark at approximately 9pm. I'm sure you're thinking, "Wow, that's really late." And yes it is, but it never fails that I will spend at least 1 hr. and 15 minutes watching the game and it is always the 6th inning when I arrive. It fascinates me how exact the timing is every night. If he was playing, I would be more dedicated about arriving earlier, but until that day comes, I'll just pick up the tail of the game to provide moral support and socialize with fans and friends.

Meet Dusty, the dust devil. That's the name of the team: the Tri City Dustdevils. We live in a dusty, 'deserty' part of Washington where on a hot dry day, little dust tornadoes whirl around fields and hills. He's a peculiar looking fellow but he's the most popular 'character' in the park!

When I arrive, I go to my seat and look down to the bullpen for a little glimpse of my "man in uniform".

And he sees me and cheeses for my camera. When he gets bored from sitting, he gets up and walks toward the dugout... for water, to use the restroom, to stretch out his legs... you know, pretty important stuff.

He nonchalantly looks up in the stands to spot his girl... as he has done since we were the ripe old age of 13...

He notices my camera and I get a cute grin!

Have any of you noticed how long his hair is getting? He keeps telling me he's not going to cut it for the rest of the summer... and I say, "you look cute with your hair long like it used to be, but I don't want a 'mullet man' for a husband." The guys on the team are not on my side unfortunately.

After all nine innings are played, the players retreat to the locker room to get cleaned up and eat their post game meal, and this night happened to be Aaron's turn to sign autographs. The kids could've cared less that he's on the DL, they just wanted the signature of a pro baseball rehabber player!

When we finally make it home around 10:30 or 11:00 pm, he eats the supper I cooked before the game {or we order pizza or go somewhere like Denny's if we're on a road trip}, we relax and catch up, and do the same thing the next night... and the next night... and the next night...

So there you have it! That's what a "night at the ballpark" is like!
