Dear 'ol Dad

Photobucket

Today and tomorrow I am celebrating my dad. Today because it's Fathers Day, and tomorrow because it's his birthday. We have a very special relationship and I thank God for how close we have always been. He makes me so proud and I just need to brag on him a little bit ok?

He is a man of God and has taught me so much about God through the way he lives his life and the lessons he has taught me.

He went through 3 yrs of college, 4 yrs. of veterinary school, was a veterinarian for 5 years, decided to take the MCAT and go to 4 yrs. of med school, 5 years of residency, and has now been a "real doctor" (as we like to call him) or should I say orthopedic surgeon for over 10 years now.

And the thing is, we never remember how often he was gone or how little sleep he had because he always gave us his undivided attention when he was home.

He has always stressed to us the importance of appreciating life each step of the way.

For many years of my life we were poor as dirt (because of med school and residency) and we never even realized it because he and my mom made our lives so rich. (I'm not trying to be cheesy, that's just the best way I know how to explain it!)

He has never missed a race that I have run, or a basketball game, etc. (that I remember, because it seems like he always made a way to be there)

He always gives the best pep talks... whether it was a triathlon, a physics test, or a beauty pageant, he always knew the perfect words to say, and still does!

I am so thankful for all of the quality time we have gotten to spend together my whole life, whether it's a long run or a long car ride or anything really.

I am thankful that I can talk to him about anything on my mind and that through 3 girls he has learned that listening is sometimes more important than advice. Although we really need that too :)

I love the way he loves my mom. He thinks she is the best thing since sliced bread and I've always wanted my husband to love me the same way. (That's why I chose Aaron! :)

I couldn't think of a better father to his daughters than my own, and yes I am biased :) and I know my sisters agree.

I love you, I appreciate you, and I am so thankful for all that you have done for us.
